One of my favorite folk / gospel tunes "The Wayfaring Stranger' is an excellent tune for any one who loves bluegrass/gospel music. It's heavy use of minor notes suggests it was written for bluegrass but it's origins predate bluegrass by nearly one hundred years. Still it has a modern sound to it that certainly belies it's age.
Burl Ives made it his signature song in the 40's but I must admit that I'm not quite sure where I got the lyrics for it. I know that they don't quite match any I have recently seen but I like mine better then the others so I recorded my version. If anyone know who originaly recorded this tune with these lyrics I'd love to hear from you.
So here is my cover of 'The Wayfaring Stranger'.
