Many relationships come to an end through simple acts of neglect. A lot of times it's not what we do that trigger the bad experiences in our lives, but rather it is the things that we don't do. These things happen either because we don't realize how important these acts of acknowledgement are or because we are simply unwilling to face up to the hard parts of relationships.
George Jones must of known about this facet of human nature by the time he recorded this song because he, himself, had paid the price for his own negligence towards himself and those around him. Thus it made perfect sense that he would make the perfect voice for telling 'The Cold Hard Truth'.
Written by Jamie O'hara, these lyrics are a cautionary tale both touching and in a way hard to listen to as they tell of a facet of nature that we all have within us to some extent. Here is my simple cover of the classic 'The Cold Hard Truth'.
